Welcome!

It is with great excitement that I look forward each month to the many fellowship activities supported by the Women’s Group at BCC. I can still vividly remember one of our very first spiritual retreats led by The Rev. Olivia Robinson at Hemlocks in January 2001. Since then, we have flourished not only with diverse activities but also with participation by many women from within and outside our church membership.  Recognizing the desire to explore as many different types of activities in the social, spiritual and intellectual realms, the women’s group was appropriately names DOTs (Doing Our Thing) in September 2003 at the fall retreat on Star Island.

In the beginning, there was a visit to Caprilands for high tea at Christmas (very well attended). Then there was a movie night featuring a French subtitled movie (not so well attended). This led to book discussions (followed by a visit to a couple of authors), several annual one-day retreats at Hemlock and weekend retreats to Mercy Center, Martha’s Vineyard, Silver Lake, Star Island, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Finally, the group has evolved into what we are today. Monthly events include workshops at Mercy Center and Hartford Seminary, movie nights, garden forums, book discussions and much more. And just because we are known for “doing our thing,” it’s not always about us. We have had two fundraisers that have raised over $1,000 for a couple of very worthy causes.

We hope to see you at one of our events. Feel free to bring a friend. All you need to do is sign up, if necessary, or show up. Any ideas for future events would be greatly appreciated. Just send an email to women@boltoncongregational.org.

Peace & Joy,

DOTs Fall Weekend Sept. 17-19, 2010

The DOTs Fall Weekend away has been scheduled for Sept 17-19 at the Doe Cottage in Ocean Park, Maine. This year's theme will be based on the labyrinth.

If you are interested in participating in the weekend, please send an email to women@boltoncongregational.org to reserve your spot. Sign-up is open to the first 25 women that respond. All others will be put on the "Wait List." Please note that in the past, we have been fortunate enough to have everyone that wanted to attend be able to attend, even if they were originally on the "Wait List."

Don't miss this most enjoyable and memorable event!
